Guide to Shopping in Cabo
Let us start off by mentioning that San José del Cabo is better known for its shopping than Cabo San Lucas is. However, we will primarily focus on shopping in the latter since it’s closer to all the action.
In Cabo San Lucas, the major shopping attraction is at the Cabo marina, the Puerto Paraiso Mall. Here you will find many well-known stores such as Quicksilver, Nautica, and Guess. Additionally, there are higher-end stores such as Fendi and Montblanc to name a few. And for when you get hungry, there are several famous names here like Ruth’s Chris Steak House, Häagen-Dazs, and Johnny Rockets to satisfy your appetite depending on your personal tastes. There is a pharmacy in the mall with well educated staff to answer your health needs. We do not recommend purchasing electronics at this mall since they are a bit overpriced.
If you’re looking for mementoes, there are many souvenir shops lining the Cabo streets. Also along the streets are clothing boutiques and galleries. Street vendors may approach you occasionally to make a sale. Located on Hidalgo at Obregón is the Mercado Mexicano. This is a flea market where you can find great bargains on hats, clothing, swimwear, leatherwork and lots more. You will have to do some bargaining if you want to get away with the best prices. Another great place for bargaining is right on the beach. Médano Beach, or Playa el Médano, is filled with vendors selling anything from hats and sunglasses to home décor items and cigars. If you are not interested, a simple “no” will let them know and you won’t be bothered further.
Basic food and drink items at the hotels are sold to guests at multiple times their cost. Fortunately, there is a solution for those who don’t have an all-inclusive package and categorize themselves on the frugal side. There is a warehouse store called City Club that is a short drive away from many Cabo San Lucas hotels. Groceries, bakery items, electronics, apparel, and more may be purchased from here. You may even notice the fact that there’s a Costco and Sam’s Club in Cabo too.
Shopping in San José del Cabo
Resort gift shops are located in the Corridor. Outside of Cabo San Lucas, in San José del Cabo, are many interior design stores selling high quality products. There is also a good selection of shops here selling arts, crafts, clothing, swimwear, and jewelry as well. Prices are a little on the high end, but quality is generally on par. Store owners aren’t as aggressive at selling as they are in Cabo San Lucas making for a more pleasant shopping experience.
